Fundraiser launched for Carleton Place business owner and cancer patient
There’s a wonderful example of a community rallying for a local business owner playing out in Carleton Place right now.
A GoFundMe campaign has been started for Johnny Cesario who is battling Stage 4 lung cancer. Johnny’s dream has been to work for himself, and last year the dream came true when he took over the popular family barbershop in Carleton Place, aptly named The Barber Shop.
However, Johnny can’t work as his doctors have recommended rigorous treatment that is estimated to cost $15K per month. His wife, Andrea, is a local nurse and isn’t able to take care of him, so their two teenage children have stepped up to help Johnny while he fights for his life.
The money raised will be used to help ease the financial stress for the family while Johnny is out of work and to cover all of the out-of-pocket medical costs they incur.
Support from the community has been pouring in. As of Tuesday morning, close to $47,000 of their $100,000 goal has been raised.
