LGL HU: Active COVID-19 case count drops by one, recoveries up by two heading into the weekend

The following information is issued Monday through Friday by the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit. This page also includes information from the Provincial Ministry of Health, the Upper Canada District School Board, and Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario. 




Daily COVID-19 Update: Friday, February 26, 2021

In its last report of the week, the Health Unit says the active case count of COVID-19 has dropped by one, and sits at 10.

There are two cases in Lanark West, and one in Lanark East. In Leeds-Grenville, there are three in the east, and one each in the central and west regions. Locations for two cases have not been released.

There remain three hospitalizations, with one person in an intensive care unit.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 860 total cases, an increase of one since their last report. Two more people have recovered, bringing the total to 796 and there remain 54 COVID-19 related deaths.

There are still two outbreaks in long-term care and retirement homes, one in Perth at Carolina Retirement Residence, the other at Lombard Manor in Lombardy.

There are no outbreaks in local schools.

The Upper Canada District School Board reports there are currently no outbreaks reported at the UCDSB.

When a case is detected, the school boards work closely with the health unit to take measures to prevent the spread of the virus to others.
