The following information is issued Monday through Friday by the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit. This page also includes information from the Provincial Ministry of Health, the Upper Canada District School Board, and Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario.

Daily COVID-19 Update: Friday, May 7, 2021

In its last report of the week, the Health Unit has added another COVID-19 related death to its total. There have now been 60 since the beginning of the pandemic more than a year ago.

They also added five new cases of COVID-19 to their totals, including three in the past 24 hours.

The number of active cases has dropped by three and now sits at 52. Of those 15 are in Lanark East, and 11 in Lanark West. In Leeds-Grenville, there are 13 in the east region, 10 in the west and three in the Central.

The latest data shows that household or close contact is the most common way for the virus to spread locally.

There is no one being treated for COVID-19 in local hospitals.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been a total of 1,675 cases, with 1,563 resolved (an increase of seven from yesterday).

There are no outbreaks in long-term care or retirement homes or in schools which continue to operate under the learn-from home model.

The next update from the health unit will come on Monday at 10 am.
