Health Unit closing in on goal to have 90% vaccinated with second doses
The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit says that our region is closing in on the 90% target of second doses of COVID-19 vaccinations for eligible residents, with people continuing to receive both first and second doses at public health clinics, pharmacies, hospitals, and primary care.
We also continue to lead the province in vaccination rates.
Of those 12 years of age and over, 93.2% have first doses and 87.7% have second doses.
In youth 12–17, 84.1% have first doses and 74% have second doses. In ages 18–29, 76.6% have first doses and just 66% have second doses.
The health unit says that pharmacies are beginning to make up a larger proportion of vaccine administration and a number of clinics are still available in various communities. You can find out more by clicking here.
The health unit also says that letters of consent will be sent to all parents of students in Grade 7 and up. Any parent wishing for their child to get a COVID-19 vaccine at school can send in the consent form.
Our Medical Officer of Health Paula Stewart will be back today at a special time with her weekly COVID-19 update. It’ll air at 4:15 this afternoon, here on Lake 88.
