Smiths Falls Council updated on planned town square
At this week’s committee of the whole meeting in Smiths Falls, staff brought councillors up to date on design changes for the new town square, set for the space between the library and the town-hall complex.
Smiths Falls director of community services, Art Manhire reported that changes had been made to the designs of the park and its bandstand with input from the town’s Municipal Heritage and Accessibility Advisory Committees.
He added that firm pricing on the bandstand had yet to be finalized.
However, funding has been secured through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program for the hard-scape components of the plan such as pathways, concrete work, light standards and benches in the amount of $175K.
The town already has capital funding of $98K to support the construction and installation of the bandstand.
The informal consensus of the committee was to send the revised designs to council for approval.
