Perth engages in strategic planning session
At a special committee of the whole meeting for Perth Town council, members and staff engaged in a strategic planning session.
The aim of the session was to define the goals for the size of the municipality, which services it will offer and how it will offer those services while remaining financially sustainable.
Councillors were polled before the meeting to gauge their preferences of keeping the status quo, or improving, or reducing various levels of municipal services. They considered road maintenance, bylaw enforcement, recreational programs and police and fire services among others. For most of the items the strong consensus was to keep things as they are. But most supported spending more on bylaw and property standards enforcement.
These results along with the day’s discussions will be used to help plan upcoming budget and tax rate deliberations.
