Hinton Auto Group stepped up in a big way to help the communities they serve.

The group, which includes Hinton Dodge Chrysler, A & B Ford Sales, Smiths Falls Nissan, and Smiths Falls Ford – Truck Town, has donated $50,000 to the annual Build a Mountain of Food Campaign.

General Manager Jeff Hinton tells Lake 88 news that the donation will be split between Smiths Falls, Perth and Lanark.

The cash donation from the Hinton group allows local food banks to target specific needs for their communities and in some cases will stretch further thanks to special discounts offered to the organizations.

It also will allow them to bolster some of their social programs for their clients.

The Build a Mountain of Food campaign continues this weekend with stops in Elgin at Gordanier Freshmart from 9 until noon in support of the Elgin Food Bank, and at Kudrinko’s in Westport from 12-4 in support of the Westport Food Pantry.
