Potential tax hike discussed in Carleton Place
Carleton Place council tackled the proposed 2022 tax rate increase this week.
Town treasurer Trisa McConkey laid out the needs for increased tax income due to inflationary pressures and anticipated revenue decreases from provincial grants.
She proposed a 1.97% increase which represents an additional $39 based on a home assessed at Carleton Place’s median value of $284K.
The public will have the opportunity to provide input on the proposed increase until Tuesday, December 14th.
Councillors approved sending the budget forward to a special meeting of council on Thursday, December 16th at 6:00 pm for a final decision.
