Carleton Place council discusses construction noise
Carleton Place council heard a proposal this week to expand the town’s noise bylaw to bring less construction noise to neighbourhoods.
Staff pointed out in their presentation that the accelerated growth of homes in the town was increasing the disruption to residents from construction noise and heavy equipment.
Almost any new build in the area require rock excavation.
As the pace of growth is likely to continue, they proposed prohibiting noises from heavy machinery between the hours of 9 pm and 7 am on weekdays, from 6 pm to 8 am on Saturdays and a total ban on Sundays and holidays.
Council approved the changes.
