Carleton Place Council holds special meeting to pass budget
Carleton Place town council held a special meeting last night to wrap up the year’s business before the Christmas break and to have a final look at the 2022 budget and tax rate increases.
Treasurer Trisa McConkey explained the budget highlights and pressures on municipal spending and was recommending a 1.97% tax increase for 2022.
This would mean an additional $38.96 for a home valued at Carleton Place’s mean assessment of $284K.
It would bring in $12.6M to the town’s coffers, a 4.77% increase over last year, with taxation on new properties making up the difference.
Council passed the bylaw to enact the rate changes.
