The Eastern Ontario Regional Network (EORN) has announced the local 5G network will be expanded to reach more residents and businesses across eight new cities and towns throughout Eastern Ontario.

Its part of a deal with Rogers and sees the technology come to Carleton Place and Perth among other locations.

The expansion is part of a $300 million partnership between EORN, the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario, and Rogers to bridge the digital divide and bring reliable wireless connectivity across Eastern Ontario.

The upgraded networks are expected to be in place by 2025.
