Ontario’s top doctor says mask mandates are here to stay for now, but when they’re lifted in public settings, they will also be lifted in schools.

Dr. Kieran Moore made the comments yesterday, while noting that high-risk settings such as public transit, long-term care and hospitals will maintain masking policies even after they are no longer required in most public spaces.

He didn’t offer up specific dates, however, for when different masking policies would be lifted.

Moore said while public health indicators are improving, the risk from the virus remains.
