Text-based scam promises licence plate sticker refunds
Police are warning is to be wary of a licence plate sticker refund scam that is making the rounds in text messages.
Peel Regional Police tweeted a photo of a text message (seen below) sent to some people, but the scam has been popping up across the province.
The texter says they work for the province and tells the victim to click a link to get their licence plate sticker refund.
Police says don’t click it – ServiceOntario never sends refunds through text messages.
